Attendees of the Manufactured Concrete Products Exposition (MCPX) will be among the snowcapped Rocky Mountains, Feb. 7–9 in Denver. Show sponsors expect to welcome more than 6000 concrete producers, distributors, engineers, architects, and others to the Colorado Convention Center.
The show offers the latest developments in equipment, technology, and education for the manufactured concrete products industry. Events are geared toward personnel at all levels of production, management, safety, quality control, sales, and marketing.
Producers of precast, masonry, pavers, pipe, and prestressed concrete have an opportunity to learn about new innovations affecting their businesses. Products and equipment will include: automated systems; block, paver, and pipe machines; pigment processing; mixers; batching and curing systems, forms; insulation; material handling equipment; computer software; cranes; wire products; reinforcement; rebar benders; vibration tables; loaders; and lifting systems.
In addition to hundreds of suppliers exhibiting thousands of products, attendees can learn from product demonstrations, floor sessions, and laboratory demonstration testing of precast and masonry products. Dozens of educational sessions will cover the latest technical, management, and leadership topics. Education programs include single-topic courses or three-day sessions, covering the newest advances in production, management, quality, safety, and more.
The show's sponsoring associations will host seminars, meetings, and plant tours for anyone specifically interested in masonry, pavers, pipe, precast, and prestressed concrete.
MCPX attendees can also take advantage of the show's many networking opportunities, including a grand opening brunch on Thursday, Feb. 7, featuring football legend and Vietnam veteran, Rocky Bleier, and a networking reception on Friday, Feb. 8.
Outside of the convention center, highlights include a tour of downtown Denver (Feb. 6), a visit to Cherokee Ranch Castle (Feb. 7) and a trip to Boulder Valley (Feb. 8). Members of any sponsoring association are eligible for tour discounts.
Changes ahead
While MCPX has always been advertised as “the only event that brings together the entire manufactured concrete products industry under one roof,” this will be the show's last year. The National Precast Concrete Association (NPCA) and American Concrete Pipe Association (ACPA) will host The Precast Show specifically for precast and pipe manufacturers Feb. 20–22, 2009, in Houston.
Other former MCPX sponsors, including the Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute (ICPI), the National Concrete Masonry Association (NCMA), and the Portland Cement Association (PCA) have announced they will host the International Concrete Exposition (Icon Expo) Feb. 26–28, 2009, in Indianapolis. Icon Expo is a combined tradeshow for concrete, masonry, and hardscape producers. The Cast Stone Institute (CSI) will also co-sponsor the event.
