CONCRETE SURFACES magazine's 13th annual Artistry in Decorative Concrete Demonstrations competition is a live-action event that features industry artisans who share their techniques and experiences with attendees. Located in the CONCRETE SURFACES Decorative Pavilion, the first two days of demonstrations will feature artist works-in-progress; the final one and a half days feature completed project displays. More than 8,000 attendees visit the CONCRETE SURFACES Decorative Pavilion throughout the four days of the show.

Artists selected for the demonstrations will be eligible for one of two cash prizes awarded to first- and second-place Experts’ Choice winners.

How to apply to participate
Artisans who want to participate in Artistry Demonstrations may be either self-nominated or nominated by a sponsoring exhibitor. Click here to download the nomination form. Remember to submit a detailed plan, including specifications, with the form. (An easy method would be to take a “snapshot” of an existing plan or project and use that for the basis of design at the demo.)

The editorial staff of CONCRETE SURFACES will select and notify artists. Efforts will be made to include projects that feature a wide range of decorative and concrete surface applications.*

*The work must be created specifically for the WOC 2015 Artistry in Decorative Concrete Demonstrations.

Company Seeks Concrete Artisan to Sponsor
If you’ve been on the fence about applying to participate in the World of Concrete Artistry in Decorative Concrete Demonstrations, consider LATICRETE International Inc.’s open offer to sponsor a concrete artisan.

What we’ll provide
A 10x10-foot concrete pad, electricity, and water. Hanley Wood will provide the slab or other concrete to the artist’s specification, as well as a lockbox for participants’ tools.

Costs
There is no entry fee, and artisans receive free admission (exhibits only) to WOC. However, artisans must provide their own materials, tools, and equipment. A lockbox for tools will be available.

Any sponsorship arrangement between a sponsor and an artist are not arranged, administered, or overseen by Hanley Wood. All Artisans may use and display any equipment or materials they choose. There are no restrictions on labeling of materials or equipment. Sponsors that are to be recognized at the Artistry Demonstrations must be 2015 WOC exhibitors. (See more about sponsors below.)

What’s in it for you
In addition to the opportunity to show off your techniques to tens of thousands of World of Concrete attendees, you’ll also have a chance to win either a $700 First Place or $300 Second Place Experts’ Choice award. A panel of expert judges from ASCC’s Decorative Concrete Council will choose the winner. Click here for tips on creating an award-worthy project.

Participating artists and their projects will also be featured in CONCRETE SURFACES’ January issue, on our website, and in our enewsletters; in WOC’s daily newspaper during the show; and in WOC’s Preshow Planner and post-show coverage, including the April WOC Daily News Post Show Review (Digital Edition).

Sponsors also benefit by increasing their exposure at the CONCRETE SURFACES Decorative Pavilion. Sponsors may have representatives on hand at the Artistry Demonstration area, and may discuss with WOC attendees the products or equipment being used.
