If you plan to attend World of Concrete in Las Vegas, Feb. 3-6, be sure to stop by the Concrete Surfaces Decorative Pavilion in the Silver Lot to follow the progress of the Artistry in Decorative Concrete demonstrations.
Artisans from across the nation will show off their skills on original decorative concrete projects they’ll be building onsite. Watch them work on Tuesday and Wednesday, then come back Thursday and Friday to see the completed projects and talk with the artists.
Judges from the ASCC Decorative Concrete Council will rate the projects and award cash prizes.
The lineup includes:
Kelly Foreman
AK4 Concrete Solutions, Auburn, Calif.
Foreman will use polishing techniques and custom dyes to produce a piece with the appearance of antique stone.
Erick Forshee
Fisher Companies, Midland, Mich.
Forshee plans to build a concrete baseball monument, 40 inches in diameter, displayed within a 3-foot 10-inch Plexiglas cube and resting on a black concrete base.
Adrian Gascon
Creative Waterscapes, Fillmore, Calif.
Returning 2013 and 2014 Artistry winner Gascon will create another realistic concrete tableau, this time featuring a wrecked sailing ship.
Nathan Giffin
Vertical Artisans, Hickory Hills, Ill.
Giffen will build a koi pond and water wall, along with retaining walls, seating, and planters, using concrete faux-stones.
Scott Kummer
Visions Below, Laguna Niguel, Calif.
Kummer’s project will include a multicolored terrazzo-style floor slab, combined with an original concrete table design and two urns/water features.
Troy Lemon
Cornerstone Decorative Concrete, Holland, Mich.
Lemon’s project will incorporate a metallic floor finish and a vertical, sculptural element.
