High-strength and ultra-high-strength steel frames enable the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 to deliver up to 24 mpg fuel economy while towing 12,000 lbs. with a 6.2-liter V8 engine or 7,600 lbs. with a 4.3-liter V6. The stronger steels have also helped both models become the first pickups since 2011 to achieve 5-star overall vehicle safety ratings by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
