White Lodging, the hotel management group behind iconic properties such as the full glass JW Marriott in Indianapolis, has moved forward with an expansion in downtown Fort Wayne, Ind. Part of their work also included a full renovation of the hotel restaurant, Conner's Kitchen and Bar. Conner's keeps the environment approachable, yet anything but average. The remodel featured polishing the existing concrete floors, allowing for a clean new look, while embracing the inherent imperfections, patching, and different pours common in remodel work. This project required a lot of patching and incorporation of several new pours. The floor started with an existing epoxy that we used bush hammers to remove and then profiled the floor. We incorporated a grout coat to fill in pinholes and small imperfections. We polished the floor to a Class C on the CPC Polished Concrete Aggregate Exposure Chart, exposing various aggregate and then finished with a Level 2 Satin finish. We also applied a penetrating black dye for the final look.
