EpoSat automatically controls material spreader settings based on the spreader's position on the route via GPS. Before winter begins, the public agency drives routes using typical settings for spreader start/stop, spreading width, spreading quantity, and spreading symmetry. After the software displays the data on a map that shows roads, road names, cities, forests, waterways, etc., managers can move or enter new points in the route or change spreading quantity and width on certain road sections. When editing is finished, routes are transferred to the spreader’s computer.

Out on the road, the computer handles spreading functions so the operator can concentrate on driving safely. In addition to enhancing safety for the operator as well as other drivers on the road, the system lowers costs and negative environmental impact of salting by improving dosing accuracy.

Plow operators may switch to manual mode at any time. If, for example, the operator is forced to detour around a traffic accident, spreading automatically resumes when the truck re-enters the programmed route.

Operator workload can be lightened further with the optional EpoNav X1 function, which guides the operator through the route.
