The green roof industry in the United States grew by 29% in 2010, according to Green Roofs for Healthy Cities' (GRFC) annual survey, and government investment in green roofs for stormwater, air quality, green space, and city cooling benefits is being cited for this boost. According to GRFC Founder and President Steve Peck, the cities leading the way in the green roof movement are Chicago, New York, Philadelphia, Portland, Seattle, and Washington, D.C.
