This project was a new slab where the customer requested aggregate exposure with a full polish. The concrete slab required a deep grind exposing Class C large aggregate. It was then polished to a 1500-grit, Level 4, highly polished finish. But when the cream was removed from the surface of the concrete, exposing the large aggregate, we faced the issue of high porosity within soft concrete, making this slab a perfect candidate for RetroPlate. Compared to other densifiers, we found that RetroPlate actually saved us money by cutting our labor cost and avoiding the need to buy additional material. We typically see that fewer applications of RetroPlate are needed versus other densifiers. Not only does RetroPlate properly densify and harden the concrete with fewer applications, the clarity of the final product is not comparable to any other densifier on the market.
