Polished Concrete Ltd’s successful branded polished concrete floor system, Megafloor, was selected by the architect to provide the special ingredient that would tie the architectural concept together.
Polished Concrete Ltd worked closely with Adam Mercer and his team at Mercer and Mercer Architects to deliver a floor that was aesthetically pleasing. Oxides where added to the mix to add a charcoal look to the Megafloor Urban Premium finish that the client selected.
A lot of time went into the design and sitework of this Megafloor. Due to the high ceiling in the main area there were major issues with the protection of the floor due to the long-term scaffolding requirements. This created potential efflorescence issues that were worsened by the presence of the black oxide.
The contractors solved these issues by careful planning the work and appropriately using various protection processes.
Aesthetics aside, the polished concrete floor is environmentally friendly and acts as a heat source in winter.
