The design has the right balance of matte and gloss, hard and soft furnishings and raw and natural materials like timber and stone and concrete. The mix used was 80% quarts with 20% basalt. The concrete was supplied by Ezymix and installed by B&K developments.

Time management was essential to the completion of this project. The floor needed to be completed in a few stages. This house had bathrooms with polished concrete floors; the initial construction slab was poured and the bathrooms were stepped down to allow for a topping slab to be installed after waterproofing. Tanking of wet areas is necessary in Australia to meet with codes and standards. To achieve this the main living areas, entryway and kitchen were ground in the initial grind using the HTC 950rx prior to any walls being installed. The initial grind involved grinding to expose the aggregate and the next few steps of the polishing process. During construction, the floor was protected using a RAM board to prevent from any damage.

The polishing of the floors occurred after the walls and roof were installed. Polishing was completed by a HTC800rx and Lavina 20s along with a range of hand tools. The chemicals used were GM3000 as the grout, Hiperhard Lith as the densifier, and Hiperguard Premium Enhance as the sealer. The transitions from the wet areas (bathrooms and laundry) had to be carefully polished to ensure the floor looked like it had been polished at the same time. Falls had to be ground and polished into the bathroom floor. The drains were also polished concrete so these had to be carefully poured and polished separately before installation.

In the step down lounge area the floor was polished up to the stairs. Then The Festool DSC230 was used to cut a straight line to allow the timber to seamlessly join into the polished concrete. This was important to give the floor the correct flow.
