The original scope of the new LDS Pacific Church History Museum project located in Hamilton, New Zealand, required laying an old terrazzo decorative mix in an attempt to match it with a surrounding building within the Temple View Development. The initial cost for this exceeded the budget figure allocated by a large margin.
Allied Concrete & Megafloor, teamed up to source some rare aggregate from South Island to create a new batch design. It was trialed as a site sample and the methodology around brass inserts was also investigated to ensure the concrete placement for this project was of the highest quality.
Once the floors were laid there was a 10 day wet cure process before the initial grinding stages of the Megafloor were undertaken. The floor was then protected during construction until the end when the Polished Concrete Ltd team returned to complete the final detailed polishing stages and the application of the MegaGuard penetrating sealer protection. The end result was a high quality polishing job whose aesthetic contributes to the overall look of the development.
